Wine Label Removers

April 26, 2010

Wine label removers are utilized for gently removing wine label from bottle exclusive of destroying the label. They are the same as broad sheets of tape and work just by placing the sheets above the wine label, chafing the label to make sure that the remover is carefully adhered and then again peeling it back. The printed label is removed whereas the coated paper backing with glue stays on the bottle.

Regardless of what brand name the wine label remover is, many people who have tried them have been familiar with mixed results. These sheets come in price about one dollar per sheet. If you are planning to start collecting wine labels, using these sheets may prove to be expensive. But they are ideal for saving special label here and there. Not considering cost, other problems associate with it are:

·        The glue on the sheet of label remover is not tough enough to totally remove the wine label.

·        Tears or holes may occur in the label while removing the glue sheet.

·        Problems also occur when the wine label is laminated as the label remover will only remove the lamination and not the real printed label.

Wine labels can also be removed by following ways:

Soaking: The empty wine bottle should be soaked with a mild detergent for few minutes. The mixture of water and detergent will release the adhesive, allowing you to remove it completely. Patience should be kept as attempting to remove label in hurry will ultimately lead to tearing of label.

Hot water usage: Hot water can be used for removing wine label by filling empty wine bottle by hot water. This will loose the adhesive on wine bottle. This process takes time as compared to soaking but you don’t have to worry about label wrinkling or getting discolored, which sometimes occurs in the process of soaking.

Steam: The most excellent way to use steam for removing your wine labels is by utilizing a teakettle. Water should be heated in the kettle and the bottle should be hold above the spout because it starts producing steam. After that the steam will release the adhesive backing lying on the label. Sometimes the bottle should be pulled away from heat and corner should be pulled for seeing whether it has started releasing the label or not.

Thus, whatever methods you are using for removing your wine labels, none of them are completely proved. Although some advice should always be remembered while removing wine labels which will be helpful in removing the labels quite easily and quickly.
