Wine Accessories

February 24, 2009

Wine accessories are in general any equipment that can be used in the storing and serving of wine. Wine accessories include many items such as wine glasses, wine bottle openers, wine decanters, wine coolers, wine cellars, wine stopper, corkscrews, and wine racks etc…. Wine glasses are a type of glass stemware which is used to drink and taste wine. Wine bottle openers and wine poppers are used to open the wine bottles and then they can be stoppered with a cork.

The main difference between the wine popper and wine opener is that in wine poppers a cartridge of carbon dioxide is pressed to release a short burst of air. The sudden increase of air pressure dislodges the cork and the wine can then be served. A wine decanter is a glass vessel into which an entire bottle of wine is poured. This promotes aeration of wine and hence introduces more oxygen which improves the wine’s taste.

Wine coolers are used to cool the wine, which is particularly important when one wants to serve wine at just the right temperature especially in warmer countries. It is very important to select a particular wine accessory on the basis of requirement because it has a great influence on the opinion one makes on wine.
