White Wine

Generally, most of the wine production is made from the fermentation of grape juice. The color of wine produced after such fermentation is clear in color. The clear wine thus produced is known as white wine.

There are various categories of white wine is available all over the world. Most popular and highest selling white wine in United States is known as Chardonnay. Its name is derived from the Chardonnay grape from which this wine is produced. Use of this grape as raw material is quite popular because these grapes could be cultivated easily without much expense. Its production all over the world is quite large leading to production of millions of bottles of white wine worldwide.

Chardonnay wine is generally consumed with foods having dishes made from chicken, pork and seafood or dishes made with heavy cream.

Another kind of white wine is known as Chennin Blanc. It is made from grapes produced in Loire valley in France, South Africa and California. These wines vary from very sweet to dry. These kinds of white wine could taste like apple, melon, lime or pear with a touch of vanilla and honey, depending of the time of harvest of grapes.

Chennin Blanc wines are generally consumed with salads, spicy rice dishes, sushi, and seafood and white meat preparations.

One more variety of white wine is known as Gewurztraminer wine. Grapes for this variety of wine are produced France, Germany, USA, Australia and New Zealand. This variety of grape is best grown in regions having colder climate.

Gewurztraminer wine is available in either dry or sweet variety. According to wine experts, it should be consumed as early as possible from its bottling date. This wine could produce the taste of honey, apricot, pear, spice, cinnamon and rose.

This wine is best suited while eating Asian dishes, barbecue or chicken wings.

Another popular variety of white wine is known as Pinot Blanc. It is produced in Alsace region of France and it is medium dry to dry in nature. Generally, no oak barrels are used during the maturation process of this wine.

This wine has a light flavor with a hint of citrus fruits. Its high acidity makes it best suitable to go with seafoods, meat dishes with light flavor and light flavored cheese.

There is one last popular variety of white wine known as Pinot Grigio. This wine is melon and pear flavored. It has a delicate fruity taste with a hint of honey. The wine is very pale in color, almost like a straw.

This wine goes well with pastas and cheese crackers. But, it should not be taken with citrus fruits or tomatoes, as this wine is already acidic in nature.
