The word sombrero refers typically to a type of hat originated in Mexico. Sombrero refers to a hat with a brim. It is derived from the Spanish word sombra, meaning shade. Cocktail is a style of mixed drink. It is originally a mixture of distilled spirits, sugar, water, and bitters. Cocktails mean almost any mixed drink that contains alcohol.

Today a cocktail usually contains one or more types of liquor and flavorings and one or more liqueurs, fruit juices, sugar, honey, water, ice, soda, milk, cream, herbs, bitters, etc… They are made with gin, whiskey, rum, and especially vodka. These two words sombrero and cocktail together make the word sombrero cocktail. Sombrero is the wonderful way to enjoy Kahlua or, the more appropriate, coffee brandy with milk or cream.

It is prepared by pouring the Kahlua or coffee brandy into an ice-filled old-fashioned glass and then it is filled with cream or milk. Kahlua is a rich, dark and smooth coffee based liqueur drink from Mexico. Even though it is a liqueur, it is extremely versatile and it can be enjoyed in a variety of ways. The beverage is also dark, but soft and semi-sweet liqueur.
