Rusty Nail
The Rusty Nail is a type of cocktail that primarily contains the scotch whiskey and the Drambuie. It is sometimes also called the Straight Up Nail when served without ice. The Drambuie is a type of golden scotch whiskey which has a distinct flavor of honey and herbs.
It is mainly made from the aged malt whiskey, a secret blend of a few herbs and spices along with the heather honey. The cocktail has a hot taste which is fairly balanced by the sweet Drambuie. Majority people prefer less amount of the Drambuie due to its sweetness.
The Rusty Nail is made using specific measured quantities of its primary components. It contains about 9 parts of the pure scotch whiskey with 5 parts of pure Drambuie. The preparation of the Rusty Nail is very simple without many complications.
A glass with 16 oz capacity is filled with crushed ice to which the 5 parts of Drambuie and 9 parts of scotch whiskey is added. The mixture is then slowly stirred until thick layer of frost appears on the sides of the glass. It is usually served in old fashioned glasses or the martini styled stemmed glasses. Finally it is garnished finely using a lemon twist.
