Lynchburg Lemonade
Cocktails are made by mixing alcoholic liquors like whiskey, rum, gin and vodka with flavors, fruit juices, other kind of liquors etc. Lynchburg Lemonade is one such cocktail which is made using whiskey.
Lynchburg Lemonade is made using Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey. This whiskey is produced in Jack Daniel’s distillery located at Lynchburg, Tennessee. That is why this cocktail is named so.
A typical recipe to make Lynchburg Lemonade cocktail would require 1 part of Jack Daniel’s whiskey, 1 part of orange flavored liquor known as triple sec, 1 part of sour mix (which is made by mixing equal amounts of lime and lemon with syrup) and 4 parts of lemonade. It is a member of a family of drinks known as sour.
This recipe was first created by Tony Mason, a restaurant owner in Alabama, USA, in 1980. But, a year later Jack Daniel’s distillery started a national advertising campaign promoting the drink. This led Tony Mason to sue the distillery for using his trade secret without his authorization. Ultimately he could win the suit after long drawn out battle in the courts.
Generally, this drink is served on the rocks by pouring in a glass containing ice. It is usually garnished with lemon wedge or possibly a cherry.
