Fancy Whiskey
This cocktail generally comprises of Blended whiskey, Triple Sec, powdered sugar, Bitters and lemon peel. All the ingredients are mixed, shaken and then strained into the glass.
What really is ‘Triple Sec’ and ‘Bitters’? Triple Sec: It is a very refined Curacao, very sweet in taste. ‘Curacao’ itself is a liqueur made from peels of a fruit which grows on the island of Curacao, off the coast of Venezuela. Bitters: Juice obtained from citrus fruits and plants is dissolved in Glycerin or alcohol to make a ‘Bitter’. It is usually bitter in taste and hence the name.
Fancy whiskies have rather exotic names too. They also have interesting ingredients.
Top rated ones are: Cosmopolitan martini, Beefeater Ginger and apple juice, The Naked Lady, Franziska, Arctic Kiss, Go Girl and A Night in Old Mandalay.
Here’s how you concoct a ‘Cosmopolitan Martini’:
You will need:
Half an ounce Cointreau One ounce Vodka Juice of half a Lime One splash of Cranberry juice
Blending Instructions: - Pour all the ingredients into a ‘mixing’ glass containing a little ice. Shake the contents and strain into a glass.
