White wine is quite popular drink amongst various alcoholic beverages available in the world. One of the varieties of this white wine is known as dry white wine. Dry white wines are those white wine varieties, which contain less than 1% of residual sugar.
The most popular dry white wines are produced in France and Germany. French varieties are Sauterne and Chablis, whereas German varieties are Riesling (also known as Hock or Rhine) and Moselle. These kinds of wine are generally distinguished by its lightness, delicate flavor and distinct bouquet. It is a clear wine with light straw or amber color.
Dry white wine is produced in USA in coast counties of California around San Francisco Bay. Grapes produced in this region contain higher acid and less sugar. This type of wine is also produced in New York State in Finger Lakes district along with some areas in Ohio and New Jersey. Wine produced in this region has a distinctive fragrance different from wine produced in Europe or California. In the states of Virginia and in the Carolinas, white wine produced has a powerful aroma reminiscent of the smell of locust flower. These wines are made from native wild Scuppernong grape growing there.

SAUTERNE
Sauterne wine is a produce of France. It is considered to be the best dry white wine produced in the world. This wine is produced in Sauterne district of France. The best of Sauterne wine is known as Chateau Yquem. As the vineyard from which this wine is made only covers 200 acres, output of this wine is very limited and considered to be very precious.
CHABLIS
Chablis is a dry white wine with a delicate straw color. The district of Chablis where this wine is produced is small is size. So, production of this wine is very limited and is very expensive.
In California, similar wine is produced which is known as California Chablis. They are produced from Golden Chasselas and Burger grapes by fermenting them after taking off their skins.
RIESLING
This is German variety of dry white wine, which is also known as Hock in Germany. They are produced in the three districts of Rheingau, Rheinhessen and Rheinpfalz. The name of this variety of wine is derived from the name of grapes variety known as Riesling. In California, wines of this variety are produced using this variety of grapes.
MOSELLE
This is a very delicate wine produced in Germany, produced in places along the river Moselle from Coblenz to Treves. These wines are pale with the scent of flours. Because of its fresh acid nature and low alcohol content, it is easy on digestion. This drink is particularly suitable for older people. Thirsty people could drink this wine without facing any adverse effect.
